Forecast Wednesday
Washington, D.C., Detroit, Mich., Milwaukee, Wis., Syracuse, N.Y. and Baltimore, Md. saw temperatures soar into the triple digits Tuesday afternoon. For Washington, D.C., it was the sixth 100-degree day this year.

A cold front will knock temperatures down around the Great Lakes and interior Northeast on Wednesday. Highs will mostly be in the 80s.
Meanwhile, the heat continues along the I-95 corridor Wednesday where highs will top out in the upper 90s and low 100s from New York City to D.C. Temperatures will eventually retreat into the upper 80s and low 90s Thursday and then fall to the 70s and 80s for Friday and Saturday.

Scattered storms are expected to develop ahead of the frontal boundary and move across the I-95 corridor of the Northeast Wednesday. Some of these thunderstorms could be strong to severe with localized damaging wind gusts, large hail and torrential downpours the main concerns.
Showers and thunderstorms will linger Thursday into Friday along the front in the Mid-Atlantic.
